WHO WE ARE

Our mission is to strengthen women’s rights through educational work by and with women. We support women in their development towards a self-determined life and financial independence. For that, we rely on the strengths and opportunities that every woman has within her.

Do you think women and men should earn the same amount? If your answer is “absolutely yes”, then congratulations: You are a feminist! And thinking a little bit further: should fathers be as responsible for their children as mothers? Why are parents forced to choose between work and family? These and many more questions show why we need feminism.

FEMINISM IS OUR TOPIC/LIFE!

The legal situation is very clear: Equal opportunities between women and men are mandatory. But women are still disadvantaged in real life. That is why we need feminism, a movement for the social, political and economic equality of women. Feminism questions the existing roles and reveals sexism in the media, everyday life and at work. As a literal “women’s league”, Frauenliga is part of this movement. We help shape our environment and get involved – towards an equal, solidary and just society.

WE VALUE EVERY WOMAN!

For us, feminist education means: We support women in their development towards a self-determined life and financial independence. To do so, we rely on the strengths and opportunities that every woman has within her.

FOR WOMEN, ONLY THE BEST IS GOOD ENOUGH!

The quality of our work is very important to us. Our team consists of professionals with various qualifications as well as trained volunteers. Our educational and service offer for women is up to date and is constantly being refined. The staff regularly participates in trainings and is well networked with many other organizations.

WE KNOW WHAT WE DO!

We have been working as a women’s rights organization in East Belgium since 1931. We see ourselves as a feminist movement that is traditionally rooted in the workers’ movement.

We put great value to the methods we work with: the educational feminist approach helps us to demand and implement changes concerning gender roles, empowerment strengthens autonomy and self-determination, the “aide mutuelle” method initiates empowering group processes and outreach educational work provides simple access to our offers. In this way, everyone can benefit, and we can make a difference together.

Do you want to join the network? With us you can work as a volunteer, profit from our large course offer, become a “womember” (“Mitfrau”), develop professional, participate in special offers concerning family and intercultural issues, become a tutor, take part in offers for young women, experience and implement new things, and much more.
